Frequently Asked Questions
What types of meat do you use in your dog food?
ARE YOUR FRUITS AND VEGETABLES ORGANIC?
Yes, all the fruits and vegetables we use are 100% certified organic. They are lightly roasted for easier absorption, digestion, and nutrient retention.
ARE YOUR PRODUCTS GRAIN-FREE AND GLUTEN-FREE?
Absolutely! Our dog food is grain-free, pea-free, lentil-free, and potato-free. This makes it an excellent option for dogs with food sensitivities or allergies.
IS YOUR DOG FOOD FRESHLY MADE AND FROZEN?
Yes, all of our meals are premade and flash-frozen for maximum freshness. This also allows us to avoid using any preservatives, or other artificial ingredients.
What makes Carnevore Mountain different from other pet food brands?
Our raw food is made using premium, locally sourced ingredients in a provincially inspected facility that also produces food for human consumption. We prioritize real, species-appropriate nutrition with no fillers, grains, or artificial additives.
Do you ship across Canada?
Our treats ship Canada-wide! However, our raw food is not available for nationwide shipping—yet.
How do I transition my pet to raw food?
A gradual transition is best. Start by mixing small amounts of raw food with your pet’s current diet, increasing the portion over 7–10 days. If your pet has sensitivities, a slower transition may be needed.
WHAT'S THE PROTIEN -TO-VEGETABLE RATION IN YOUR DOG FOOD?
Our dog food contains 80% meat, organs, and 10% bones to mirror a dog's ancestral diet, as well as 10% fruits and lightly roasted vegetables. This ratio is designed to provide a balanced meal that is rich in essential nutrients.
DO YOU HAVE LAB TESTING TO BACK UP THE QUALITY OF YOUR PRODUCTS?
Yes, all of our raw dog food products are lab tested. In fact, all of our products are produced in facilities that are licensed and regulated by OMAFRA (Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food & Rural Affairs) under the Food Safety and Quality Act. 2001. and are produced in factories that make food for humans.
What this means for you, and your pet is that we follow the same food guidelines, and processes that are used to make food for you and us to eat!
DO YOU USE ANY MECHANICALLY SEPARATED MEAT (MSM), OR OTHER FILLERS?
Absolutely not!
Mechanically Separated Meat (a.k.a. MSM or otherwise known as meal) is meat that is deemed unfit for human consumption, is highly processed, and is used to produce the majority of kibble that you will find on store shelves.
If it's not fit for human consumption, why would you feed it to the dog you love? We wouldn't and that's why we created Karnevore Mountain Natural and Nutritional Dog Food.
IS YOUR PET FOOD HUMAN GRADE?
Absolutely!
Many pet food companies claim to use human-grade ingredients, but how true is this claim?
The only way to genuinely state that pet food is human-grade is if it comes from provincially or federally inspected ingredients and facilities.
All of our ingredients are genuinely human-grade, sourced from Ontario licensed and provincially inspected facilities.
Our raw dog and cat food is made in an Ontario provincially licensed facility that also produces food for humans.
Is raw feeding safe for my pet?
Yes! Dogs and cats are biologically designed to eat raw food. Our recipes are formulated to provide balanced nutrition, and our facility meets strict food safety standards to ensure quality.
How should I store and serve raw pet food?
Keep frozen until ready to use. Thaw portions in the fridge and serve within 2-3 days. Always handle raw food with care, just like you would with raw meat for human meals.
